- Bandipur National park – Located in Karnataka state in Chamrajnagar District. Bandipur National park is known for its tigers. It shares boundaries with Mudumalai national park ( Tamilnadu), Nagarhole wild life sanctuary, Wayanad Wild life sanctuary and becomes one of the largest forests in India.
Bandipur National park is located at distance of about 80 kms from Mysore todards Ooty. This National park shares boundaries with nearby wild life sanctuaries of Mudumalai, Wayanad and Nagarhole. The Bandipur national park is known for Indian Bison, Spotted deer, Chitals, Chinkaras, Leopards, Wild cats, Bears, and some species of Monkeys like Macac and Langur. The park covers and area of about 880 sq kilometers.
The region of Bandipur, Mudumalai and Nagarhole was once shivered by the name of Bandit Veerappan who traded in Animal skins, and Sandalwood. He was killed in an encounter by the State government, and since then, the area has become renowned tourism hub.
