Jallian wala bagh

The unfortunate day of April 13,the morning of Baisakhi festivalcelebrations marking the starting of harvest, the birthday celebration of Khalsa in 1699 founded byGuru Gobind Singh, was going to be another historical day in year 1919. The memorial at this historical site remember the Two thousand Indians who have been Shot dead by Open Firing of British General Michael O”Dyer on April13, 1919 while people were engaged in peaceful public meeting. This had been one of the main mishaps of India’s independence struggle.

Parts of walls with bullet spots are still visible and  preserved together with the memorial water well, in which many innocent people jumped to save their lives..

Wagah border

Wagah is 35 kms Amritsar 35 Km on the way to Lahore(Pakistan), is India-Pakistan border, that is also called as  “Attari(India)-“Wagah” (Pakistan) border. A visit towards the border is really an exciting experience, especially at sun-set, when the retreat ceremony will take place with the Border Security Force (B.S.F.) of india and Pakistani rangers on the other side.

The Music of the  bugles  from two sides portray past on the canvas when India and Pakistan were one nation( before partition), all together Flags of the two countries are ceremoniously retrieved and lights are turned on noticing the end of the daytime amongst thunderous applause. Today this is the only land route towards pakistan and Central Asia.
