India is known for its spirituality and culture. This essence of Spirituality arises from Hinduism which is India’s Major religion. Approximately 82% of the population follows Hindu religion. Other religions followed in India are Buddhism, Jainism and Zoroastrianism. The roots of Hinduism lies deep in Indus valley civilization.
Buddhism and Jainism got importance in the 6th century BC at a time of Social and Religious disintegration of India. These two religions got birth due to increased influence of Brahmanical influence in Hindu Society. Islam came into India from the Arabia and became largest minority religion. Similarly, Christianity also arrived in Southern India. India is also home to one of the world’s oldest Jewish communities.
