Ranthambore National park

Ranthambore National park

Ranthambore National park is located near town of Sawai Madhopur. It is very huge and stunning park known for Bengal tiger. It covers an area of about 1334 Sq kms. There is a 10th century fortress, several lakes known for Indian maggar. It has served as hunting ground for Maharajas of Jaipur for years.

The park of Ranthambore not only faces several issues of Poaching. The Tiger is considered as an animal useful, since its bones, teeth, skin, blood, hairs are all used in Chinese medicines. Thus, Project tiger was launched to curb all this menace.

Another major problem is between the local villagers and tigers. Villagers want more land for cultivation, thus the forest area is shrinking. This makes tigers move inside the villages sometimes in search of food. The Tiger population of Ranthambore is about 42.
